MLA to go on 48-hour hunger strike

NEW DELHI: BJP MLA from Delhi Cantonment, Karan Singh Tanwar, announced on Saturday that he would go on a 48-hour hunger strike outside the office of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit “to protest against the failure of her Government to rein in the Blueline buses that have killed nearly 100 people this year alone.”

Mr. Tanwar told mediapersons that he would begin the hunger strike on Monday.

He said the Delhi Government was keeping silent even as the buses were running on the roads violating traffic rules.

The MLA alleged that the Government was not able to take any action because many of the Congress leaders owned these buses directly or indirectly.
