‘Raj Bhavan has become a Congress office’

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The former Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Saturday alleged that the Raj Bhavan had been turned into a Congress office by State Congress leaders.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Yediyurappa accused the Congress of misleading the Governor on several issues.

Stressing the need for the restoration of a popular government in the State, Mr. Yediyurappa maintained that each day of President’s Rule would be a setback to the development of the State.

The BJP, in a press release, took exception to Governor Rameshwar Thakur’s action of cancelling the political nominations made by the Janata Dal(S)-Bharatiya Janata Party Government to various cooperative institutions.

Party spokesperson S. Suresh Kumar said in the release that it had proved that the Governor was acting according to the wishes of the Congress.

While the Congress had demanded that decisions taken by the Kumaraswamy government after it lost majority be revoked, the Governor had gone a step ahead and cancelled the nominations, which had been done much before the Government lost its majority, he said.

He said the Governor should only monitor the administration instead of granting the wishes of the Congress.
