KOLAR: Hundreds of farmers, under the banner of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha (KPRS) taluk committee, staged a protest at the office of the deputy director of sericulture on Friday, in support of their demands. Abrogation of minimum ten paisa beat during auction at sericulture markets, release of adequate grants for the sericulturists towards drip irrigation, end to cheating of farmers by middlemen and officers at the markets, were some of the demands placed by the association in a memorandum submitted to the Government. The farmers asked the Joint Director of Sericulture Department Nagesh, Deputy Director Satyapal and Deputy Director Shanthamurthy why no action was taken against officials who had behaved rudely to farmers.
