RAMANATHAPURAM: The Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi will visit Pasumpon on October 30 to attend the centenary celebrations of freedom fighter Muthuramalinga Thevar, according to the Collector, R. Kirlosh Kumar.

He told The Hindu on Friday that he had received the oral communication about his proposed visit to Pasumpon.

The Chief Minister would place a wreath on the memorial of Thevar. He would come by road from Madurai.

The Collector said he had held several rounds of discussions with officials and instructed them to speed up all arrangements to be taken for the proposed guru puja.

Most of the development works initiated at a cost of Rs.60 lakh at Pasumpon were nearing completion. All officials concerned had been directed to complete development works within October 15.

A site for the government function was selected. All departments, including revenue, police, public works department, health, education, and local administration were asked to complete the works entrusted to them as early as possible.
