Ghastly sight: The Sumo and the lorry which were involved in an accident on Kadapa bypass road, on Sunday. KADAPA: Tragedy struck a family belonging to Mahabubnagar district which was going on a pilgrimage to Tirumala when their Sumo collided with a lorry near Nanapalle on the Kadapa bypass road on Sunday. The girl’s mother, Nagakala, and relatives, Lakshmamma, Sunithamma and Pentamma, and a seven-year-old boy, Aditya, and the Sumo owner, Srisailam, were killed in the accident, according to Chinna Chowk police. Srisailam died in the driver’s seat itself due to the impact of the collision. The girl’s father, Ramaswamy, and grandfather Easwaraiah and seven others – Malleshu, Ramaswamy, Rajendra, Krishnaveni, Lavanya, Siva, Srikanth and Gajanan, all close relatives, mostly suffered head injuries and fractures and were admitted to RIMS Hospital here. However, Archana, who slept in the back seat, escaped unhurt. The deceased as well as those injured belonged to Narsappaguda village in Kothur mandal in Mahabubnagar district. They would have reached Tirumala in about three hours, but for the mishap, the injured lamented. Chinna Chowk sub-inspector Vijayabhaskar Goud registered a case.
