Special prayers mark Id-ul-Fitr

Following tradition: Muslims offering special prayers on the occasion of Ramzan in Gulbarga on Sunday.

GULBARGA: Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour and traditional gaiety in Gulbarga district.

Muslims invite their Hindu friends for lunch and dinner on the occasion.

Areas dominated by Muslims in Gulbarga and other cities in the district wore a festive look.

Special prayers were offered in masjids, idgahs and dargahs.

In Gulbarga, special prayers were offered at the Jama Masjid inside the Gulbarga Fort and other masjids and idgahs. Prominent among others who offered special namaz in the city included MP Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi and former Minister Qamar-ul-Islam.

Security was tightened in all idgahs and other places of worship across the district to prevent any untoward incident.

Bidar Staff Correspondent reports: Id-ul-Fitr was celebrated with religious fervour in the city on Sunday.

A large number of Muslims gathered at Idgah Maidan on Udgir Road and offered prayers. Deputy Commissioner Harsha Gupta, former district in-charge Minister Bandeppa Kashempur, MP Narsing Suryawanshi, MLC Arshad Ali, Additional Superintendent of Police G.M. Yatanoor and a few zilla panchayat members greeted people on the occasion.

In Humnabad, State Janata Dal (Secular) president Merajuddin Patel offered prayers at Idgah Maidan on Kallur Road.

Mass prayers

Bijapur staff correspondent reports: Muslims celebrated Id-ul-Fitr with religious fervour I the district.

Mass prayers were offered on the Jumma Masjid premises and other masjids here.

Meeting

Bijapur MP Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, former Minister B.S. Patil Sasanur, and Deputy Commissioner V.B. Patil took part in the prayer meeting at Dakhani Idga Maidan.

Former MLC Akbar Sheth and leaders of the Muslim community were present.

Moulana Syed Tanvir Peera Hashmi conducted the prayer meeting.
