Reaching out: Khadi Board Minister K. Ramachandran distributing relief materials in Ooty on Sunday. UDHAGAMANDALAM: All should develop an attitude to help the needy, said the Khadi Board Minister K. Ramachandran here on Sunday. Participating in a function organised by the Nilgiris District Chapter of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) to distribute relief materials to victims of flash floods that occurred in some parts of the district recently, he said that the need of the hour was service-mindedness. Stating that movements like the IRCS and the Junior Red Cross JRC were rendering yeoman service to the people in distress, he said that their example was worthy of emulation. The Chairman, IRCS, the Nilgiris, K.R. Mani welcomed the gathering. Among those present were the President, IRCS, Tamil Nadu Sarojini Varadhappan, the State Vice President, IRCS S.V. Chitti Babu and the Vice Chairman, Youth Red Cross De-addiction Wing D.V. Mugundan. On the occasion Mr. Ramachandran gave away relief materials worth about Rs. 6 lakh.
