TIRUPATI: Minister for Endowments, J. Ratnakar Rao had a busy schedule at the Srikalahasteeswara Swamy temple, participating in more than half-a-dozen programmes. Besides performing the traditional Rahu-Kethu Pooja, he formally inaugurated the A/C system installed at the hall.
The famous Siva temple, located on the banks of the river Swarnamukhi, 40 km from here, can now boast of a ‘Mirror hall’ (Addala Mahal) put in place at a cost of Rs.15 lakh. It was formally inaugurated by the Minister and so was the ‘Saiva Agama Paathasala’ on the temple premises.
Another highlight was the unveiling of the statue of a noted philanthropist of the early 90s, Ramanadham Chettiar of Devakottai in Tamil Nadu, who reportedly donated Rs.1 lakh to the temple continuously for nine years since 1912 for the renovation of the temple in phases. His statue, which all along remained in an obscure corner, was re-erected at a prominent place and unveiled by the Minister.
