In view of the celebrations of Dasara festival atop Indrakeeladri, I would like to make a few suggestions to the authorities of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamivarla Devasthanam. It is better if they avoid printing the image of goddess Kanakadurga everywhere, including carry bags, darshan tickets and prasadam packets because the materials was littered after use in most in appropriate places in temple complex and the outside as well. The same yardstick must be applied strictly to private vendors too. Further I would suggest that the staff and private volunteers do require crowd management techniques as they often over react for every issue and cause a lot of inconvenience to devotees. Kowta Priyamvada Labbipet, Vijayawada Fake cinema ticketsIt is astonishing to note that fake cinema tickets are being sold in black market at some theatres in the city. Recently, a group of youngsters who went to watch a new release in a theatre at Governorpet were disappointed on seeing the ‘house full’ board at the theatre. At that very moment, a man approached them and offered tickets for double the price. He gave them the tickets, collected the money and disappeared within seconds. The youngsters were told by the gatekeeper that the tickets were fake and the serial number printed on the tickets was not matching with that of the current booking number. They can’t lodge a complaint with the police, as buying tickets in black market itself is a crime. This incident shows how the theatre managements and black-marketers are making money by exploiting film-buffs. Such incidents will not repeat if the police and the theatre managements take steps to curb black marketing of tickets. S.V. Rama Rao Gandhi Nagar, Vijayawada Subsidy onionsAs the price of onions is soaring day by day, the authorities are requested to modify the existing system of distribution. Instead of distributing onions at a subsidised price through Rythu Bazaars, they can supply them through fair price shops, so that more and more people – particularly those who are residing in sub-urban and rural areas can avail themselves of the subsidy. The serpentine queues at the special counters at Rythu Bazaars are discouraging many people from buying onions and they thought it as a Herculean task. I request the officials concerned to supply onions at subsidised price to larger number of people. A.Pattabhi Ajitsingh Nagar, Vijayawada Poorly illuminated bus stationPandit Nehru Bus Station in the city is no doubt one of the biggest bus terminals in the State. But, one has to see the terminal after dusk, as it is poorly illuminated. Lighting arrangement is so bad on some platforms that commuters are unable to find the way. Particularly, platform numbers 8 and 9, which are the busiest points are in total darkness. C. Ram Mohun Old HB Colony, Vijayawada
