HYDERABAD: National Disaster Management Authority member, M. Sashidhar Reddy appeared surprised at not being invited for the inauguration of the Tsunami Early Warning Centre here on Monday.
As member of the NDMA, he was closely associated with the development of the Centre for over a year now.
Sources said he had interacted with the Union Minister of Science and Technology, Kapil Sibal just the other day on scheduling the inaugural function. But he was surprised to learn that he was not among the invitees. Mr. Reddy’s supporters suspect the hand of the State Government in the issue. The Rs.125-crore Centre, has the capacity to generate the first alert within 30 minutes of a tsunamigenic earthquake.
