Nepalis in city take out rally
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: Nepalis on Sunday took out a rally here in support of the formation of a democratically elected government in Nepal.
The rally was taken out from Town Hall to Bannappa Park. It was organised under the aegis of the Karnataka unit of the Nepalis People’s Right Protection Committee. “The rally is in support of 21 demands submitted by the committee to the Nepali Government,” said Harilal Thani, a member of the committee.
The local Nepalis said a few Western countries were sending emissaries to keep an eye on the developments in Kathmandu. Some of the statements given by high ranking officials meant serious threat to the aspirations of Nepalis to have a democratic system ending monarchy.
“We should be allowed to have our own government,” said a Nepali.
