There will be no shortage of medicines: Minister Rajiv Arogya Sri to be extended to all districts Kakinada: The Minister for Vydya Vidhan Parishad and hospital services Vanama Venkateswerarao has said that all the doctors’ posts including specialists would be filled up by November end. Laying foundation stone for the Rs.60 lakh CEMONC centre (comprehensive emergency Obstetrics and neo-natal care centre) at the Vydya Vidhan Parishad community health centre in Prattipadu on Monday, he said the posts include, 900 MBBS, 534 specialists, 135 dentists, 703 staff nurses and 459 para-medical staff. ApplicationsHe said applications for these posts were already received and are under process. The Minister said that there would be no shortage of medicines including the anti-rabies vaccine and instructions were given to make market purchases if any emergency medicines are required. Stating that the CEMONC centre sanctioned under the national rural health mission funds would be a boon to the rural womenfolk, he claimed that it would provide specialists medical care to the pregnant women. The twenty-bedded centre would have four specialists’ doctors and round the clock laboratory facility for conducting vital tests. Reiterating the government’s commitment on providing better medical care to the people, he said that the Rajiv Arogya Sri scheme, which is, now under implementation as a pilot project in three districts would be extended to all the districts from December. The white cardholders, he said, could avail the treatment for specific diseases in corporate hospitals. He advised the pregnant women to prefer institutional deliveries to bring down the mortality rate. Varupula Subbarao MLA has presided. Zilla Parishad chairman Ch. S. Venu Gopalakrishna said that Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy deserves every credit for improving the medical facilities in rural areas.
