Film festival from November 23 to December 3 Films to be screened in five cities PANAJI: The Goa Government and the Union Ministry for Information and Broadcasting (I&B) will soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the 38th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Though Goa has been declared as the permanent venue for IFFI, the film festival will continue to be jointly organised by the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), entertainment wing of the Goa Government, and the Directorate of Film Festivals under the I&B. The modalities of the MoU were finalised by both sides at a recent meeting in New Delhi and the drafts would now be approved by Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi, Chief Executive Officer of ESG Nandini Paliwal told The Hindu on Monday. The film festival will be held between November 23 and December 3. The ESG is expected to open bids for appointment of event management partner for this year’s IFFI on Wednesday. Mumbai-based Times 360 degree and Delhi-based Brilliant Entertainment Network (BEN) have bid for the same. The ESG on Monday gave two days time to BEN, the last year’s event management partners, to settle ESG’s pending dues of last IFFI sponsorships, according to Ms. Paliwal. At a meeting of its general council held on Monday, the ESG broadly discussed and finalised the concerts and cultural programmes, including film screenings, to be held during the festival in Panaji, Bicholim, Ponda, Vasco and Margao.
