dated October 16, 1957: Ban on atomic tests

Prime Minister Nehru said at Hong Kong on October 14 that the world needed to develop a new dimension of the mind in the inter-planetary age – “the fourth dimension” – to tackle problems arising from the tremendous technological advancement, which had outmoded war. This new dimension, he said, was “ethical.” The Prime Minister made a fervent appeal for suspending nuclear tests without any reservation.
