Nightmarish experience for motorists

GUDIVADA: A busy area like the Bypass Road Junction here should have good roads for denizens of the town and those coming from outside to enjoy a smooth ride. But that is badly missing in this rich coastal town, known for its sound agrarian economy.

With a good floating population from neighbouring villages, the town keeps bustling with activity throughout the day. The need for smooth roads is widely felt.

The condition of the Bypass Road junction is a matter of particular concern, with the local people taking on the local representatives and officials concerned. Wide and deep potholes have given a big botheration for the people. Many a time, vehicle users escaped serious accidents because of the bad condition of the stretch there.

As the Bypass Road junction has National Highway 214 passing through it, there is heavy traffic.

People coming from villages in Mudinepalli and Kaikalur are also in a significant number.

“The local leaders are not bothered to get the road repaired here. During elections, they come and shower a number of promises. But they cannot get a small stretch of road in good condition,” said Shivaiah, a mechanic working in a garage in the town. The local people feel unhappy about potholes existing on many roads in the town. “We have represented the problem to the officials.

But there is no action. Even the local elected representatives are not listening to our pleas,” said Ravi Venkata Rao, a farmer hailing from a nearby village.
