New facility: K. Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurating a project to supply deflouridators to 25 villages in the district at a cost of Rs. 65 lakh donated by non-resident Indians. BHONGIR: Telanagana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday lashed out at the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, for making tall promises on Telangana and deceiving the people of the region. Addressing a large gathering as part of the party’s ‘Praja Chaitanya Sadassu’ here, Mr. Rao cited the example of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences expansion project at Bibinagar in Nalgonda district and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa to drive home the point that Dr. Reddy had shown bias. DiscriminationHe said foundation stones were laid for both the projects at almost the same time two years ago. Yet, while RIMS started functioning after being inaugurated by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the NIMS project remains where it was two years ago. Similar was the case with Telangana University in Nizamabad and Yogi Vemana University in Kadapa. Dr. Reddy still wants the people of Telangana to believe that there was no discrimination, he added. Whether it was power, water, education or employment, “all we had been seeing is discrimination and injustice for the last the five decades,” he said to applause from the people. We will have to bring this to a halt by launching a no-compromise struggle for a separate Telangana. We threw out the powerful Nizam in the past and we could do the same to the Congress,” he added. Flurry of promisesReferring to the flurry of promises made by Congress and Telugu Desam he said both had failed to honour them, with their single-point agenda being to deceive people and capture power. “We should not allow it to happen. We have coal and we have water but the power goes elsewhere. If TRS comes to power it would ensure that farmers get 12 hours of supply” he said. Mr. Rao inaugurated a project to supply deflouridators to 25 villages in the district at a cost of Rs. 65 lakhs donated by Non-Resident Indians. Others who spoke included Jayashankar, former Vice Chancellor of Kakatiya University, R.Vidyasagar, former Chief Engineer of Central Water Commission and Dr.K. Nagesh , local MLA.
