Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The city will be the stage for a South Zone one-day cricket series for the blind in November.

Announcing this at a meeting on Monday, Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association for the Blind and Founder-Chairman of Devnar Foundation for the Blind A. Saibaba Goud said that the series will be held from November 14 to 19 with participation from all South Indian States namely Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. With smaller ground, balls equipped with trinkets and stumps of iron, the matches will be customised for the blind, said Mr. Goud.

He informed that the State team had recently won five international matches against England.

The meeting was held in connection with the donation of white canes by Amway Opportunities Foundation to the city-based Devnar School for the Blind. A total of 350 white canes were donated, some of them distributed on the spot, to the visually impaired students of the School on the occasion of International White Cane Day.

Area Manager of Amway India Enterprises Sandeep Prakash was also present.
