Innovative effort

One of the leading hotels in Kovalam took up the challenge of preparing the tallest sandwich and to break the world record set four years ago. Udaya Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel decided to roll out the ‘wonder loaf’ on the occasion of World Food Day on Tuesday. The Guinness record for the tallest sandwich is held by O’Brien’s Irish Sandwich Bar, Ireland. The 40-ft sandwich was made on April 25, 2003.

Raja Gopaal Iyer, Corporate Director of the hotel, says the event has been dedicated to the country and the revenue from the proceedings will be donated to poor homes in the State capital.
