Ensure implementation of welfare schemes, Deo tells party cadre

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: AICC general secretary and CWC member V. Kishore Chandra Suryanarayana Deo was felicitated by the District Congress Committee, Youth Congress and NSUI leaders at Ananda Gajapathi Auditorium here on Tuesday.

Bobbili MP Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi presided. Minister for Housing Botsa Satyanarayana, senior Congress leader and MLA P. Sambasiva Raju and a host of others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Deo while referring to the request of Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana that more Central grants be released for the State for housing, pension and other welfare schemes, said it was a fact that no scheme could be implemented without the Central assistance.

The UPA Government for the welfare of poor had initially launched the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme in 200 districts and it had now been extended to all the districts in the country. As programme coordination was his main job he would monitor implementation of welfare schemes in each State and inform AICC president Sonia Gandhi, he said. He asked partymen, particularly Youth Congress and NSUI cadres to visit each village and ensure implementation of welfare schemes.

Mr. Deo said that his elevation to the top party post was a great honour. In a democratic party like the Congress, groupism was common. But, we must abide by the high command’s decision, he added.
