PUDUCHERRY: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Tuesday demanded that the duration of the monsoon session of the Assembly be extended to seven days. Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the party A.Anbalagan told reporters here that though it had been informed that the Assembly would meet on October 24, it would not be possible for the Members, particularly those belonging to the Opposition, to raise several vital issues affecting the people, in such short duration. The AIADMK legislature party would submit a memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor seeking his intervention to ensure that the session lasted a week minimum, he said. This time, the Members would like to raise issues such as reservation for the minorities, “deteriorating law and order situation” and others. AnniversaryThe AIADMK in the Union Territory would organise functions on Wednesday to celebrate the 36th anniversary of founding of the party.
