NAMAKKAL: The district administration has issued community certificates to more than 5,000 tribal people in Kolli Hills, Collector G. Sundaramurthi has said.
Participating at the special mass contact programme organised in Karkoodal panchayat in Namakiripet block here on Monday, the Collector said that the administration had taken up special initiatives to distribute community certificates to all the tribal people living in Kolli Hills.
Works for laying an alternative road to Kolli Hills from Mullukurchi would be taken up after getting permission from the Union and State governments, he said.
The administration had spent Rs. 20 lakh this year so far to purchase lands to provide free house sites to the Adi Dravidar families.
A sum of Rs. 45 lakh was allotted to the district for this year to provide free house sites through the Adi Dravidar welfare department, he said.
Assistance
He appealed to the people to approach the departments concerned to seek assistance under various government welfare schemes. The district administration would provide old age pension to all the eligible persons.
Mr. Sundaramurthi assured that immediate steps would be taken up to redress the grievances of the petitioners.
Later, he distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 2.09 lakh to 141 beneficiaries.
