DINDIGUL: Work on doubling of the broad gauge line between Dindigul and Kodai Road will be completed before March 2008, and the stretch up to Madurai is expected to be covered by July. Thereafter, Southern Railway will operate more trains, Hemanth Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, said on Monday.
Talking to reporters, he said track utilisation now stood at 150 per cent. So, it was difficult to operate more trains. “After completion of doubling work, we can consider allocation of more coaches exclusively for Dindigul.”
Budget hotels would be constructed in Madurai, Rameswaram, Palani, Kodaikanal and Tuticorin. The contracts for construction of the hotels at Madurai and Rameswaram had been awarded, he said. Development works were being executed at the Dindigul station.
