Curious turn to ‘Mahila’ row

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The stand-off between TDP leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari and Mahila Congress president Ganga Bhavani took a curious turn on Tuesday with a Congress worker alleging that the former’s supporters beat her up.

Congress activist Sumati Mohan, who is facing charge of intimidating Ms. Rajakumari and trespassing into her house along with her co-workers led by MLC Ganga Bhavani, lodged a complaint making this new allegation. The Humayunnagar police registered a case against the unidentified supporters of Ms. Rajakumari under sections 324 (assault), 504 (intentional insult leading to breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code following her complaint.
