GADAG: Chief Secretary P.B. Mahishi has said that the loss owing to floods in 14 districts of the State has been put at Rs. 955 crore. He was addressing presspersons in Gadag on Tuesday after holding a review meeting on flood relief works in Gadag, Dharwad and Bagalkot districts. The Government had released Rs. 120 crore for relief works, he said and added that steps would be taken to release additional funds. Mr. Mahishi said the State Government had submitted three reports to the Union Government seeking funds for flood relief works. After visiting the affected areas, the second Central team had sought more details on the extent of damage. The details had been furnished. The final decision on releasing funds was likely to be taken after the details are tabled before the Union Cabinet, he said. He said a comprehensive report on the loss caused by floods would soon be submitted to the Union Government.
