Pinarayi disputes reports

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday disputed large-scale factionalism in the ongoing party conferences. Replying to questions at a press conference here, Mr. Vijayan said contrary to reports in a section of the media, conferences only in some 20 of the 25,000 branches had been postponed. He also disputed media reports about a committee headed by Labour and Excise Minister P.K. Gurudasan and said there was no such committee. The media might be referring to a committee headed by Left Democratic Front convener Vaikom Viswan, he said. — Special Correspondent
