KARUR: Social Welfare Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna has urged philanthropists to come forward to construct and donate buildings to house anganwadis and noon-meal centres.
Addressing reporters here on Tuesday, she said the anganwadis would be named after such donors. Such honour would also be extended to those who were willing to maintain these facilities.
Dr. Poongothai said Rs. 500 would be given every month to mentally challenged or mentally ill children of any age and economic status.
The parents or guardians needed to produce a certificate by a competent authority to get the grant for the maintenance of the children.
