Coimbatore: Tension prevailed near a private school on Tiruchi Road here on Tuesday when a call taxi hit a Standard IV girl. She escaped with minor injuries.
According to the police, Jaisy Christina (9) was hit by the taxi when she was walking along the road near the school. Angry parents assembled in front of the school causing traffic snarls during the peak hour.
They pointed out that accidents in front of the school had become a regular affair and sought stringent traffic regulation. The police led by three Deputy Commissioners of Police pacified the parents and assured them that road safety would be ensured. The Traffic Investigation Wing Police registered a case against driver Patric Sujay.
Seven injured
Seven persons from Malappuram in Kerala who were on a tour to Udhagamandalam in a maxi cab vehicle were injured when the vehicle hit a wall near GCT on Thadagam Road late on Monday night. According to the police, when the driver applied brake to negotiate a motorist, the vehicle slipped from the road to hit the wall. The injured have been admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
