Amritsar, Ranchi teams move up

NEW DELHI: Harwinder Kaur scored two goals as Government Senior Secondary School, Kairon, Amritsar, outplayed Birsa Munda Vidyapith, Rourkela, 3-0 for a place in the semifinals of the NDMC 14th Nehru junior girls hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Tuesday.

Ramandeep Kaur sr. scored the other goal for the Punjab team which led 2-0 at half time.

Government Girls High School, Baariatu, Ranchi, was the other team to confirm a semifinal berth as it topped group ‘B’ in the super-league with a 4-0 triumph over Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Nangloi.

Shilwanti Minjur (2), Asha Kumari and Birsi Mlindu scored the goals.

In an inconsequential match in group ‘C’, Tikaram Senior Secondary School, Sonepat, beat Thenzawl Higher Secondary School, Thenzawl, 4-1.
