BPUT fails to keep its promise: students

BHUBANESWAR: Engineering students, who had so far been at receiving end for damaging public properties to highlight their issues, on Tuesday alleged that Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) authorities failed to keep their promises.

At a convention participated by educationists, parents, police officials and administration, the students said BPUT had not provided them answer sheets which it promised to supply within seven days soon after extra ordinary meet of academic council last month.

“We have been raising voice against ill-management in BPUT system for quite sometime. It is evident from the fact that the university had promised to constitute a committee, which would suggest different reforms within one month. It is yet to happen," secretary of the students’ association Adyapran Subudhi said.

The BPUT had not even included two students’ representatives in the committee as it announced before media after the academic council meeting on September 14, he said.

Students also raised doubts over sincerity of the university authorities for bringing transparency in examination rules. They announced to intensify their agitations in future by taking different sections of society into confidence.
