BAPATLA: The farmers should be given fair price for their produce and not the minimum support price to enable them get good profits, said Bapatla MLA Gade Venkata Reddy.
At the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations funded World Food Day celebrations organised Andhra Pradesh Water Management Project (APWAM) of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University here on Tuesday, he reiterated that the Government was making all efforts to make agriculture remunerative for farmers.
Calling upon farmers to fight for their cause, he said they should be able to fix the prices for themselves and only then agriculture would be sustainable. Complimenting the efforts of FAO in operating a project at Bapatla and choosing the right theme for the year “Right to Food,” he said that the people must have easy access to safe food. Food should be sufficient at all times for all people, he observed and gave away prizes to farmers, students and staff who won prizes in the competitions organised by the APWAM Project on the occasion of the World Food Day.
