Heavy rain in Kanyakumari district

Nagercoil: Various parts of Kanyakumari district witnessed heavy rain on Tuesday. The water level is slowly increasing in all the tanks and ponds and farmers have already started agricultural operations in full swing for the second crop.

Electrocuted

According to the police, Selvaraj (53) of Kuttakuzi near Thiruvattar was electrocuted while he came in contact with a live wire, when he was returning home after taking bath.

The level in Pechipparai dam stood at 43.66 feet against the total capacity of 48 feet whereas it was 40.50 feet in the last year on the same day, 70.45 feet in Perunchani (77 feet) whereas it was 64.70 feet last year, 15.84 feet in Chittar I (18 feet) whereas it was 13.58 feet last year, 15.94 feet in Chittar II (18 feet) whereas it was 13.68 feet last year, and 5.60 feet in the Poigai dam (42.85 feet) whereas it was only 1.20 feet last year.
