New Delhi: The Supreme Court has asked trial courts and the High Courts not to issue bailable and non-bailable warrants mechanically.
“The issuance of NBWs involves interference with personal liberty. Arrest and imprisonment mean deprivation of the most precious right of an individual. Therefore, the courts have to be extremely careful before issuing NBWs,” said a Bench, comprising Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justices R.V. Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari.
The Bench was disposing of an appeal filed by Inder Mohan Goswami.
