Stormwater drains on St. Mary’s Road to be desilted

Chennai: Mayor M. Subramanian has directed the Chennai Corporation to desilt stormwater drains on St. Mary’s Road in Alwarpet.

The Mayor inspected the locality on Tuesday after residents expressed their grievances about water-logging on the road. They said rain water run-off from TTK Road and adjoining localities drained into St. Mary’s Road and caused stagnation.

The Mayor also directed Chennai Metrowater officials to remove blocks, if any, in the sewerage network in the area. The entry points for stormwater drains on the road would be desilted by the Corporation. Zonal chairman M. Jayaraman accompanied the Mayor during the inspection.
