Boy attacked by stray dogs in Pammal

Special Correspondent

TAMBARAM: A five-year-old boy was bitten by a stray dog in Pammal near Pallavaram on Monday evening.

G.Vijay, a resident of Park Street, Panchayat Colony, Pammal, was a student studying in a popular matriculation school nearby. On Monday evening, he was playing with a group of his friends, when he was attacked by a pack of stray dogs.

He was injured on his fore arms and sustained bleeding injuries.

He was rushed to a private hospital, where he was provided treatment.

Residents of Park Street said a voluntary organisation had caught more than two dozen dogs a fortnight ago as part of animal birth control measures, but were released back into the area after surgery.

While stating that stray dogs should never be subject to inhuman treatment, residents said that safety of people, especially children and senior citizens, was paramount.
