SANGAREDDY: An eleven-member bankers team from Ghana visited Kardanoor village in Sangareddy mandal on Tuesday to study the working of self-help groups in the district. This is the third such team to visit the Medak district to study the multifaceted work done by the women with rural background.
Later speaking to reporters here, the team leader Emmanuel pointed out that the SHG movement in Ghana is at an early stage and the groups were not able to repay the loans hitting the movement badly. The team members observed that the SHGs in Medak were not only earning money but were also able to take up activities like fertilizer distribution, maize procurement and Akshara Deepam. Women members of the team expressed surprise over the way the illiterate women of Kardanoor addressed the foreign delegation. Collector B.Venkatesam accompanied the team.
