Man held for trespassing

CHENNAI: The police arrested a man on charges of trespass after he allegedly entered the residence of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa at Poes Garden on Tuesday.

The police said P. Dhandapani (32) of Dharapuram had come to the city to meet Ms. Jayalalithaa. Since the visitor entered the residence without obtaining proper permission, the staff stopped him.

After preliminary inquiries, they handed him over to the Teynampet police station.

Produced in court

Based on a complaint, the police registered a case. Dhandapani was produced in a city court, the police added.
