Award for JIPMER professor

PUDUCHERRY: The National Academy of Medical Sciences has selected Subash Chandra Parija, Director-Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research of Puducherry for the ‘Dr. Pran Nath Chhuttani Oration Award’ for 2007-08.

According to a press release here, the award is being conferred in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of diagnostic parasitology with particular reference to the development of simple, rapid and affordable immunoassays for serodiagnosis and seroepidemiology of common parasitic diseases such as amoebiasis, hydatid disease and kala-azar.

The ‘Dr Pran Nath Chhuttani Oration’ was established in 1999.
