KATHMANDU: The ruling seven-party alliance has decided to put off the special session of the interim Parliament till October 28 after they failed to reach agreement over demands put for the by the Maoists. Despite frantic efforts over the past few days, the parties failed to reach a consensus on the Maoists’ proposal to declare a republic by the interim Parliament and to change the modality of the Constituent Assembly election. The parties requested Speaker Subhas Chandra Nemwang to adjourn the special House session. “We decided to adjourn the House to explore possibilities to reach a consensus,” Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi told reporters.
