JNU to work with Korean university

Parul Sharma

NEW DELHI: Jawaharlal Nehru University will soon sign a memorandum of understanding with Namseoul University in South Korea to jointly work in the areas of Computer Science, Social Sciences and International Relations.

An Agreement of Cooperation has been signed between the two institutions and a JNU delegation led by Vice-Chancellor B. B. Bhattacharya will finalise and sign the MoU when it travels to South Korea in early November this year. “The broad areas have been outlined. Once the MoU will be signed, we will be able to work out the finer details,” said Coordinator (Evaluation) S. Chandrasekaran, one of the members of the delegation.

JNU has so far signed about 86 memoranda of understanding with foreign universities. The most recent was with the University of Colima, Mexico, signed last week. As per that MoU, the foreign university will collaborate with the Centre of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Latin American Studies and Centre for Canadian, US and Latin American Studies at JNU.

“The Mexican University will focus on cooperation in fields like Information Technology, Asia Pacific Studies, Biotechnology and Economics. They will soon facilitate interaction with academics from the concerned schools and centres to identify key areas,” said Anil Bhatti, Chief Advisor (International Collaboration).

On October 1, the University also signed a MOU with the prestigious University of Lausanne, Switzerland, with a focus on Life Sciences and Culture Studies.
