Under-construction Ghogha Dairy inspected

NEW DELHI: Senior functionaries of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, led by MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta, carried out an inspection of the under-construction Ghogha Dairy here on Tuesday to assess the progress of work.

MCD Veterinary Department officers informed that a High Court-instituted committee had found 313 of the 1,350 applicants to be eligible so far and scrutiny of the entire list would be completed within a week. They also said that tenders for installation of an effluent treatment plant had been invited.

While describing the planning for the project as “weak and lacking vision”, Mr. Gupta directed officials to submit to the Standing Committee a blueprint of the chilling plant, fodder market and veterinary hospital.

“The project suffers from lack of coordination among the departments. If this continues, then the project will not be completed even within a decade. A sum of Rs.20 crore has already been earmarked for it and if the property is not properly utilised, then the money will go waste,” said Mr. Gupta.

Opposition leader J. K. Sharma demanded that the Ghogha Dairy issue be discussed at a special meeting of the Standing Committee.
