Social security for construction workers soon

VIZIANAGRAM: Chairman of building and other construction workers welfare board S. Gopal has said that the government will soon provide social security to construction workers.

Some 55 lakh workers in the State would be covered, he told reporters at a press conference here on Tuesday. He said that in addition to insurance scheme, the government would also extend Arogya Sri, ex gratia for accidental deaths, maternity benefits for women workers and old-age pension.

At present, field-level survey was being conducted in the State, he said.
