dated October 18, 1957: Vedanta conference

The seventh annual session of the All India Vedanta Conference began in Amritsar on October 16. Abut 50 Vedanta scholars from India and Cambodia are participating in the one-week conference which will hold two sessions daily. Swami Asanganandji Maharaj, presiding over the opening session, said that world peace could be maintained on Vedantic principles alone. The aim of the conference was to spread the message of truth and non-violence.
