India loses to Greece in handball

HYDERABAD: Republic of Korea, Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia entered the semifinals of the handball tournament at Yousufguda Stadium here on Wednesday. Though Greece beat India 32-27, both the teams could not qualify for the semifinals. The Indians were leading by a narrow margin in the first half. But two Indian players were suspended for two minutes in the second half and Greece used this opportunity to take the score to 27-21. Thereafter Greece maintained its lead till the end. India plays Lithuania on Thursday and the match will decide India’s standing in the bottom three. India’s captain, INC Singh, a promising player of international standard, who has scored 30 goals and is one among the top goal scorers of the tournament said “we generally play on mud courts. In the Para flex courts the game is faster which we lack”.
