Different spaces at home come with different functions and their distinctiveness needs to be understood and respected. This includes how the flooring is laid for these spaces. Here are some suggestions on how to go about in terms of flooring choice. For bedrooms, one can prefer cement concrete flooring (IPS) with neat cement finish, mosaic tiles, mosaic-in-situ (grey or white), Kota stone or marble crazy flooring. Moving to the drawing-cum-dining room, the choice can be between white mosaic-in-situ flooring, Kota stone or marble tiles. IPS flooring While planning office rooms, one can check the IPS flooring with neat cement finish, mosaic flooring (grey) or mosaic tiles. For computer rooms or library, P.V.C. flooring can be the right option. The suggested flooring plan for toilet and kitchen include ceramic tiles, marble tiles or slab, mosaic tiles, IPS with neat cement finish, Kota stone or mosaic-in-situ. Since staircase flooring is important, do stick to either Kota, marble or slate stone or mosaic tiles. The walkways can floored with Agra stone, plain concrete tiles (pre-cast), chequered concrete tiles (pre-cast and coloured), sand stone slab (Dholpur stone) or cement concrete flooring in panels (either Gurmala finish or neat cement finish with chequered design by putting jali). Kadapa black stone Lobby and reception lounge are key design factors for office and business space. Choose from either ceramic and marble tiles or Kota and granite stone. When finalising for kitchen, the choice for counter slab should be Kadapa black stone, marble slab, granite or IPS with neat cement finish. Here is a checklist for mosaic flooring. Check whether proper cement concrete under layer is provided in cement concrete flooring and whether marble chips conform to the size and specifications. Thickness of flooring, size of panels, uniformity of chips and colour, cracks if any, curing, any hollow sound when tapped and whether the joints in the border and panel coincide where border is provided need to be looked out for. For quick replacement of flooring, do check the Bissaza tiles that come with adhesive. Just peel off the adhesive and stick them on existing flooring. Just like a sticker. These are about 4 mm to 5 mm in thickness. Ceramic tiles Ceramic tiles have a clay base. Now there are tiles which are made of total ceramic. They are called de-vitrified tiles and have no slippery base and come with an assurance of almost 50 years life. They have no thermal effect and are non-algae. They have no fungal growth either.
