Digvijay, Scindia unite on a platform for M.P. elections

Guna (M.P.): Signalling new political equations in Congress ahead of Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls later next year, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh and party Lok Sabha MP from Guna, Jyotiraditya Scindia, came together after a long time, dismissing reports of their differences.

The two leaders, sharing dais during the foundation laying ceremony of the Congress office here on Wednesday, praised each other with Mr. Scindia describing the former Chief Minister as his elder whom “he respects a lot”.

While Mr. Scindia represents Guna Lok Sabha seat, Mr. Singh’s ancestral home Raghogarh is situated in the same district. Mr. Singh also represents Raghogarh assembly seat.

“He has a right to scold me,” Mr. Scindia said, adding “some people created misunderstanding between them, despite that Congress is one and remained united”.

Mr. Singh, calling himself the “goldsmith of politics having good knowledge of diamonds”, described Jyotiraditya as a “polished diamond”.

Sometime back, both the leaders had addressed party rallies where they attacked each other’s style of functioning.

Recalling the contribution of Madhavrao Scindia, Mr. Singh said the late leader left an indelible mark in serving the country and added that Jyotiraditya also had the same zeal and positive attitude towards development.

The former Chief Minister said that BJP came to power in the State on the issue of power, water and roads, but the same were haunting the ruling party now and this was reflected during ‘Vikas Yatras’, which were “greeted by people with rotten eggs and tomatoes”. -- PTI
