Oral orders issued to limit list of Indiramma beneficiaries: CPI (M)

Alleges 600 names were removed on the pretext of late payment of deposit amount

Says scheme had no mention of collecting deposit from the poor beneficiaries

ANANTAPUR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday alleged that the State Government had issued oral orders to the officials concerned to limit the list of beneficiaries under the Indiramma scheme.

Padayatra

The talk of “Indiramma wealth to all” by the ruling party was being spread only to deceive the people and not for implementation, town secretary of the party V. Rambhupal said during the fourth day of padayatra to enlist problems of people in divisions selected under the Indiramma scheme and also to mobilise people’s support for an agitation.

Oral orders were in force to limit the list of Indiramma beneficiaries, particularly those of homeless poor, and there was ample proof for it. About 600 names were removed on the pretext of late payment of deposit amount of Rs. 2,100 in the first phase, he alleged.

Collecting deposit

Though the scheme had no mention of collecting deposit from the poor beneficiaries it was being collected in the district headquarters town purely with an aim to limit the size of sanctions, Mr. Rambhupal said.

The administration was trying to repeat the same act for the second phase of the scheme too to keep as many poor as possible away from the scheme.

He criticised that the houses were not constructed to those selected under the first phase and even the land acquisition was not done for the second phase of constructions.

Corporator P. Prasoona said drinking water supply, poor roads and dilapidated drains were common problems in many areas in the town.
