Police constable shoots himself to death

GADAG: A police constable committed suicide at the Gadag city police station on Thursday by shooting himself with a service rifle, according to police sources.

The incident occurred at 2.45 a.m. when the constable was alone in the station.

The police gave the name of the constable as Ganeshbabu Fakirappa Jadhav (50).

Mentally disturbed

The sources said that the constable, who was mentally disturbed, reported to duty recently after taking three months leave for treatment.

On Thursday, Jadhav reportedly asked constable Kerimani to bring him drinking water.

When the constable returned to the station, he found Jadhav lying in a pool of blood.

According to family sources, Jadhav was mentally disturbed after his parents refused to give him a share in their property.
