DEHRA DUN: Higher reaches of hills in Uttarakhand experienced snowfall on Thursday as rain lashed the plains, bringing the mercury down several notches and ushering in chill weather. Nanda Devi, Kedarnath and Gangotri in the Garhwal region and Munsuiyari and Panchashuli in Kumaon received moderate snow as temperatures fell appreciably. Showers overnight in the plains brought the mercury down by two to three degrees Celsius, Meteorological Director Anand Sharma said. Hailstorms also hit the State capital, Dehra Dun, which recorded 5.4 mm of rain since Wednesday - PTI
