Updated Lanchavatara

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Theatre artiste Master Hirannayya’s famous Kannada play Lanchavatara will be staged on October 26 at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall. The latest version of this political satire will have Mr. Hirannayya in the role of Dattu and his son, Babu Hirannayya, as “Meese Muniyappa”.

Lanchavatara has been staged in the State for the past 45 years and has gained popularity for its entertaining and scathing comments on corruption and politics.

The play continues to retain its flavour as Master Hirannayya constantly updates the play to mirror the times and maintain its relevance.

Proceeds from the play will go to funding projects taken up by the Karnataka chapter of the Mahila Dakshata Samiti, a non-government organisation.
