First fully CFL village in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) on Thursday declared Mayond Kalan village in Hisar Operation Circle as a cent per cent compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) village.

An official spokesman said that out of 126 residents of the village, 124 have regular metered power connections.

Nigam officials had campaigned door-to-door and persuaded the residents to replace

traditional yellow bulbs with the energy-efficient CFLs.

The villagers had responded positively by purchasing 220 bulbs.

With the replacement of all yellow bulbs with CFLs, the load on two transformers of 100 KVA and 63 KVA capacity has been reduced from 124 ampere to 106 ampere and from 77 ampere to 41 ampere respectively.
